Humane Education

Animal Ambassadors (12+)

The new Animal Ambassador Club is action-oriented: focused on humane education, youth leadership and community service – empowering youth to create positive changes in their communities with animal welfare in mind.

While working directly with shelter animals, participants will learn shelter procedures, policies and safety, and are introduced to many important issues such as breed research, animal protection, responsible pet ownership, and the importance of veterinary care.

This 6-week program provides youth with the tools they need to become agents of change, and save animal lives. During the session, participants will learn how animals end up in our Welfare Centre, and how to prevent it. They will work together to create a fund raising initiative, which will take place on the final day of program. They will tackle an issue they feel passionate about, advertise their event, and run their fundraiser from start to finish.

Animal Ambassadors will receive their own KWHS hoodies, and end the club with some community service hours!
